Steps of the assessment
Contents
1. THERE IS NO SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT WITHOUT THOROUGH EXAMINATION
After the patient arrives, we first ask about their major complaint, what is it that they would like to get rid of, what is the most bothersome for them. We discucc in detail how long the bothersome symptom has been ongoing, whether the patient experienced any trauma, did they have any surgeries, and what worsens or reduces their pain. So in this phase of the status assessment process we collect all information related to the main problem. After this we explore any additional symptoms.
2. WHY IS THE PAST IMPORTANT?
We assume that at the moment of our birth, our body is perfect, but as a result of various surgical interventions or accidents, this system becomes faulty. Compensation processes begin from this moment. If your head starts to hurt without any previous signs or you experience an unexplained lower back problem, there must be something that happened in the past and threw your body out of balance. We look for the sources of imbalance in the system and aim to intervene there.
3. THE APPROPRIATE HYPOTHESIS IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR HEALING
After collecting all the important information, all these data goes into an imaginary “funnel” and the possible hypotheses are born. By hypothesis we mean a partially confirmed scientific idea that can provide an explanation about how a specific complaint developed. Usually we can set up several different hypotheses for a given problem. For example, a patient can suffer from lower back pain because of an old surgical wound or a herniated disc, but an internal organic problem is also a possible explanation. It is the responsibility of the therapist to select the most probable hypothesis and start working on that basis, continuously informing the patient about what is happening exactly.
4. NOW IT IS TIME FOR TESTING
After we have selected the hypothesis, we start testing to see whether our conception is correct. We use a variety of orthopedic, neurological and neurodynamical tests, which allow us to evaluate the function of muscles, joints, nerves, connctive tissues or even internal organs. The purpose of these tests is to reproduce the symptpms of the patient, thus confirming our hypothesis.
5. INDIVIDUAL CASES AND INDIVIDUAL TREATMENTS
So, we performed the examination, collected all the positive tests (that provoke complaints), now we can start the treatment. We know all the most effective therapeutic methods, but we well opt for those that are best suited for our hypothesis. Taking the above example again, if we think that the lower back pain is related to some internal organ, we will apply the so-called visceral technique that can be used to mobilize internal organs. If we suspect that the cause is musculoskeletal, we will use an orthopedic manual therapy method.

6. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
After the status assessment we test one hypothesis and perform the treatment on that basis only. If the hypothesis was correct, the condition of the patient will rapidly improve. However, it is possible that the symptoms stay the same. In this case, we start working along the lines of our next hypothesis and observe how the main complaint of our patient responds to this treatment. We continue this until we find the appropriate hypothesis.
7. Assessment prices
The assessment session costs 17.000 HUF and it takes 60 minutes.
If a senior physical therapist performs it, it costs 22.000 HUF.
The status assessment includes consultation, testing and treatment.
